Q: How do I sign up for my private Panafold Desktop App?

Q: Now what? I downloaded the private Panafold Desktop App but I don't see it.
A: If you’re using a Mac, once the download is complete, open a Finder window and search for Panafold.dmg. Double click to reveal the Panafold app icon to launch the .dmg installation. Then, drag and drop the Panafold app icon into your Applications folder. To launch Panafold, double-click the icon in your Applications folder. Look down in your dock for the (P) Panafold icon.
If you’re on a PC, search for “Panafold” and run the executable (.exe). That should install the software and you’re ready to launch the desktop app.
If you already have a Panafold account, login using your username and password. Your Notebooks will load automatically. If you don’t have a Panafold account, click “Create Account.”
Q: What do I do if my computer doesn't let me open the app? I get "Panafold is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?
A: Click the “Open Anyway” button, or go to System Preferences by clicking the apple icon on the top-left corner of your Mac.

- You will see that Panafold was not opened. Select "Open Anyway" to open.
Q: What is a Notebook?
A: A Notebook is your curated collection of links, thoughts and images. After clicking on Notebooks, create a new Notebook by clicking on the orange (+) icon. Then you will have the option to add an image, a description, or add Collaborators (people who have privileges to either view or create and edit folds in this Notebook).
Q: How do I share a Notebook?
A: Find your notebook and tap the share icon (little linked circles). You can post on social media or make an appealing SharePage with its own URL.
Q: Can I share the contents of a Notebook with someone without a Panafold account?
A: Yes. You can send a link to a SharePage they can open in any browser. Select your Notebook and tap the share icon. You can share your custom URL with anyone you like. Invite others to either use the Panafold Chrome Extension or to sign up for the app if you want to use the Discussion feature with them or have them add images from their computers. You can also post on social media.
Q: How do I create a Collaborative Notebook?
A: You can create a Collaborative Notebook upon first creating the Notebook, or by clicking the three vertical dots and then the “pen” icon on the dropdown menu on your existing notebook. You can then add Collaborators, people who have privileges to create and edit folds in this Notebook. Remove a collaborator by clicking the small x.
Q: I'm a Collaborator, why can't I add other Collaborators?
A: Only Notebook owners are able to add Collaborators. Ask your Notebook's owner to add the person with whom you'd like to collaborate.
Q: What is a "Private Notebook?"
A: Every notebook you create is private by default. It’s easy, however, to change the privacy settings to “Public” either when you create the Notebook or in the Notebook’s “Edit” menu. This will make the Notebook viewable by anyone you have chosen to share the link with.
Q: What is a "Tab?"
A: You’ll see “New Tab” once you click on a Notebook. How you sort your content is up to you. For instance, you may arrange content reflecting physical layout (like a room or floor) or function (lighting). You can also keep content in the default “All” tab and think about sorting later.
Q: What is a "Fold?"
A: A Fold is something you want to share or remember. It’s more than a link to a website: it can be an image that you’ve saved, or a link to an image or a pdf. It includes commentary and discussions with your project members..
Create a Fold by opening your Notebook. In the new screen you’ll see space for your new Folds and an orange (+) plus (Fold) button (the same one used to create a new Notebook on the previous page). Clicking the (+Fold) button will bring up an editor where you can enter a link, a description of something you want to remember, and the ability to add a link to an image.
Q: How do I select an image for a Fold?
A: Add images from your computer or images with URLs. Drag and drop your picture from your computer, or enter an image URL (like http://www.somesite.com/somepicture.jpg). The image types we support are the same as those supported by the Chrome Browser and include jpg, pdf, png, but not .tiff.
Finally, images taken with the Capture App will appear automatically in your Notebook. You can also add images using the Chrome Extension.
Q: How do I select an image in Windows?
A: Method 1: Alt key and pressing the Print-Screen. Once you have captured the screenshot, you must paste it to an editor in order to see it. People often paste it into a Paint file and save it as a jpeg or png that can found by the app.
Method 2: Snipping Tool. For Windows Vista and 7, the Snipping Tool is found in Accessories (or search "snipping tool"). For Windows 8, start typing “snipping tool” on the Start screen. Your Snip will open in a new window. Use the Pen tool to draw on it and make notes, and the Highlight tool to underline. Save the Snip. Save as a jpg or png. In Windows 10 you may want to take a screenshot by hitting Windows Key + PrtScn to save directly to a screenshots folder in your Picture Library.
Method 3: When you have an attachment, click it and a box will come up that gives you the choice of opening the photo or saving it.
Q: What is the "Discussion" space on the right?
A: You can record thoughts with your colleagues. A note you post will attach to the Fold for your Collaborators to read. More general notes can be attached at the Notebook level.
Q: What to the + icons on my screen mean?
A: If you click the (+) icon on your Notebook screen, you'll be able to add a new Notebook. Within the notebook, clicking the (+) icon will let you add a new fold.
Q: Can I customize the Desktop with my logo and brand mark?
A: We are happy to work with you on customizing the desktop app. We'd like to help you create a private spot on the web.
Q: I found a bug. Wo do I report it to?
A: We are aware of some bugs and are working to resolve them. We are hugely appreciative of your initiative to report bugs or simply to alert us to things that seem too hard. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with a description of the issue and we will try to resolve it. Thank you!
Q: I lost my password. How do I reset it?
A: Logout and go to the Login screen, accessed by logging out or launching the desktop app. Go to Forgot Password. You will then receive an email with a temporary password that you will reset when you login.

Q: Do you have an app for mobile devices?
A: Yes. The Panafold Capture App is currently available for the iPhone. It lets you upload or take a picture to create a new Fold. You can also create a new Notebook or sign up for an account. You can find out more at www.panafold.com/capture-1.
